BATON ROUGE — Child support payments may increase on average of 5 percent for families with more than two children, but decrease for families with one child. House Bill 933, sponsored by Rep. Gregory Miller, R-Norco, employs more recent data on child-reading expenditures to set the new child support payment guidelines, which hasn’t been updated since 1991. HB933 is one of seven bills related to child support that have been suggested from the Child Support Guidelines Review Committee and Miller. The new figures also take into consideration Louisiana’s cost of living. Civil Law and Procedure reported favorably on the bill and moves to the floor. Civil Law and Procedure committee also approved, among others, the following bills: * HB862, sponsored by Rep. Mike Huval, R- Breaux Bridge, provides a limitation of liability for a parent, tutor, or curator with a child with development disabilities when the care, custody and control of the student has been relinquish to the school.
