UM president assures legislators university is making progress on diversityJEFFERSON CITY • When state lawmakers threatened to cut Mizzou’s funding, school leaders sprung into action. When pressure to fire Melissa Click reached its zenith, the university’s board took decisive action to dismiss her. But on the issue of making the University of Missouri-Columbia a more inclusive place for minorities, the university is dragging its feet. At least that’s what state Rep. Courtney Allen Curtis, D-Ferguson, claimed Monday during a meeting of the Urban Affairs Committee. Curtis is chairman of the committee. He was just one of two legislators who attended the meeting.
