Gov. Robert Bentley gets lukewarm applause in Huntsville, bolts after speech
Within seconds of ending a speech in Huntsville on Wednesday, Gov. Robert Bentley was in a black Chevy Tahoe and leaving the Von Braun Center. The embattled governor immediately left the stage and avoided the media – a highly-unusual occurrence for Bentley and other politicians who routinely address a media gathering following such speeches in Huntsville. It's the first time since the scandal broke last month that Bentley has refused to talk with the media during a public appearance. Jennifer Ardis, the governor's spokeswoman, told AL.com that Bentley's quick departure was because he had a tight schedule on Wednesday and meeting he needed to attend in Montgomery and was not an effort to elude the media.
