Bentley impeachment effort could continue after legislative sessionState Rep. Ed Henry said today he expected a resolution next week to create a 15-member committee to study impeachment articles against Gov. Robert Bentley. If the House votes to create the committee, Henry said its work would extend beyond this legislative session, which cannot go later than May 16. Henry said the committee would be made up of 15 House members, appointed by the House majority and minority leaders. He said the membership would be proportioned to reflect the 105-member House by party, race and gender. Henry, a Republican from Hartselle, said he believes the Legislature has inherent subpoena power, but expects that to be challenged. Lawmakers might pursue legislation to address that, he said.
