Friday afternoon, Gov. Phil Bryant posted a photo of himself signing House Bill 786 into law, a bill that allows guns in churches. The photo showed Bryant at his desk, pen in hand. Next to him was a Bible, a holstered gun resting on top. Within minutes, the photo was getting reaction on social media. It's been shared almost 4,000 times from the Govenor's Facebook page. According to Bryant's spokesperson, Clay Chandler, the Glock 23 .40 caliber pistol belongs to the governor. Bryant also has a concealed carry permit although Chandler noted the permit "is not required to display a firearm in the manner depicted in the photo."
