Pascoe accuses Attorney General’s Office of ignoring and then interfering in probeCOLUMBIA — A flurry of legal allegations filed at the S.C. Supreme Court on Friday accuse the Attorney General’s Office of ignoring — and then interfering — in the Statehouse corruption probe. The harshest language came from fired special prosecutor David Pascoe, who said Attorney General Alan Wilson’s office showed multiple instances of tampering in the investigation, even after Wilson sought to “firewall” himself over a potential conflict of interest tied to an unidentified lawmaker. Among Pascoe’s allegations: A ranking Wilson office official spoke with a lawmaker’s defense attorney about the supposed weakness of the case. Pascoe also accused Wilson of turning the investigation “into a political game” after he, as the special prosecutor, was blocked from taking the case to a grand jury.
