Pennsylvania's primary elections are quickly approaching April 26, but local officials are focused on an event 100 days away: the Democratic National Convention. By opening day July 25, said the Rev. Leah D. Daughtry, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee (DNCC), "we will have built a city within a city." That "city," she said, will require reserving 15,000 hotel rooms, preparing for 50,000 guests, reserving 400 buses to transport attendees, and laying 125 miles of fiberoptic cable. Convention activities take place at the Wells Fargo Center. Also by July, the Democrats will have a presumptive nominee, said DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, brushing off suggestions that the race between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton could come down to a brokered convention.
