A train fire briefly engulfed an engine near Harrison Street in Emmaus around 9 a.m. Sunday. Crews extinguished the blaze within minutes. (LAURIE MASON SCHROEDER / THE MORNING CALL)Fire crews responded to a train fire in Emmaus this morning near Harrison Street. The fire, which was called in around 9 a.m., briefly engulfed the engine of a train stopped behind Kelly Chrysler Dodge Jeep on State Street. Crews with the Emmaus Fire Department had the blaze extinguished within minutes, but smoke could be seen from several miles away. The railroad tracks the train was traveling on belong to Norfolk Southern Railway. Railway officials could not be reached for comment. It is not yet known what the train was hauling.
