HARRISBURG — A criminal record because of a youthful indiscretion can lead to more than 500 unintended consequences, including being a barrier to college and employment. Pennsylvania legislators — on both sides of the aisle — want to change that. A bipartisan group of state legislators announced in the Capitol on Wednesday identical, competing bills in the state House and Senate. If passed, they would automatically seal criminal records for those who are convicted of minor, nonviolent misdemeanor offenses, if they stay out of trouble. “Mistakes happen, and good people get caught up in bad situations every day,” state Rep.
