Federal jury convicts Ken Medenbach of unlawful camping on federal public landA federal jury on Tuesday found Kenneth Medenbach guilty of unlawfully occupying and camping on federal public land in Josephine County in May 2015. After the verdict in Eugene, U.S. District Judge Michael J. McShane ordered the removal of Medenbach's illegal cabin that he had set up along a U.S. Bureau of Land Management road. Medenbach represented himself in court. He also has decided to represent himself in a pending federal indictment he faces in U.S. District Court in Portland in the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Harney County. In the southern Oregon case, he argued that the federal government doesn't have jurisdiction over the public land and the "federal judicial department" doesn't have authority to interpret the U.S. Constitution.
