JEFFERSON CITY — The state budget is far from inked, but as things stand now, the 2016 legislative session is shaping up pretty well for Missouri State University. While the University of Missouri has been threatened with proposed budget cuts during the current session because of lawmakers' frustration with last year's protests, it appears MSU is poised to win several legislative victories. President Clif Smart has said MSU would like to see a 6 percent bump in operating dollars and keep tuition flat next year, a $5 million appropriation for renovations for David D. Glass Hall and an accounting change that would help safeguard the university's occupational therapy program. So far two of those priorities — the renovation dollars and safeguard for the occupational therapy program — have been approved by both the Senate and the House.
