Centerpoint Medical Center is undergoing a major expansion, adding 36 hospital beds and other facilities in a $59 million project announced Wednesday. “It’s a very exciting day for us,” said Phil Buttell, the hospital’s chief operating officer. The hospital has had a faster-than-expected growth in demand since it opened in 2007, and that’s caused HCA Health Midwest to look at expanding, something the company had in mind in the hospital’s original design, he said. Work on the expansion will likely begin in early 2017. It will include: An added floor on the south tower of the hospital and two on the north tower. One of those two on the north tower will be shelled in but left unused until needed in the future. Read more: www.examiner.net/news/20160421/hca-plans-59m-centerpoint-expansion
