Tourists clamored to get into a former New York state asylum last year for a tour. This year, the state plans to keep Willard Psychiatric State Hospital shut for a public tour, according to the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. "Due to safety concerns from last year's large tour the department has decided to not do a tour of the Willard Drug Treatment Campus in 2016," DOCCS spokesman Pat Bailey said in a statement. "We will revisit the possibility again in 2017. " For eight years prior to the 2015 event, about 500 people came to the former hospital in the Finger Lakes for the public tour. An entrance fee went toward the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Children's Center now run on the property. But last year, thousands arrived. They waited in line. Some grew impatient. Some left without seeing much of anything. www.syracuse.com/state/index.ssf/2016/04/no_tour_of_willard_insane_asylum_for_2016_ny_state_says.html
