RNC: New Hampshire to keep its first-in-the-nation primary statusNew Hampshire will retain its first-in-the-nation primary — for now, at least — after a member of the Republican National Committee’s rules committee withdrew a motion to strip the state of its status in 2020. During a meeting at the RNC spring meeting in Hollywood, Fla., members of the rules committee approved Utah RNC delegate Enid Mickelsen’s motion to withdraw her plan to strip New Hampshire, Iowa, South Carolina and Nevada of their early-state status. Steve Duprey of Concord, former four-time New Hampshire Republican State Committee chairman, was present at the convention when Mickelsen withdrew her motion. “We were aware it would happen,” said Duprey. “Mickelsen withdrew her motion, as did others, to avoid the impression that the RNC was changing the rules midstream.” Read more: www.unionleader.com/article/20160422/NEWS0605/160429772
