PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Hours before the head of Planned Parenthood was set to campaign for Hillary Clinton at Brown University, the Rhode Island Democratic Party sent out a news release saying they "condemn" Ohio Gov. John Kasich's "offensive comments and policies toward women." Kasich, who is hosting a "town hall" event at Bryant University on Saturday morning, signed an Ohio bill in February blocking any organization that performs or promotes abortions from receiving state funding. While Planned Parenthood was not mentioned in the law, it blocks the nonprofit, and other clinics like it, from receiving more than $1 million in state health department funding. "John Kasich is just as extreme and disrespectful as Donald Trump when it comes to issues on women's health," Kristina Fox, vice president of the Young Democrats of America, said in the news release. Cecile Richards, the president of Planned Parenthood, was scheduled to stump for Hillary Clinton at her alma mater Friday evening. The organization endorsed Clinton in January.
