Blumenthal calls for greater protection for train, other travel in Connecticut, across USNEW HAVEN >> Five times as many people travel by train than by air, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., said, and without an increased in security protocols these travelers may be vulnerable to a possible terrorist attack. Blumenthal was in New Haven Friday demanding that the Transportation Security Administration honor the critical security measures outlined in the Implementing Recommendations Act, which was part of the 9/11 Commission Act of 2007. “Still, almost a decade later, there is no action by the TSA,” Blumenthal said. At Union Station in New Haven, Blumenthal held a press conference and said he will release a letter to TSA Administrator Peter V. Neffenger seeking to find out why the TSA failed to meet the 2008 deadline to apply these measures. Blumenthal’s letter also will demand the TSA remedy the issue by meeting the requirements, a release from the senator stated.
