North Carolina General Assembly's short session could be long on issues
RALEIGH -- When lawmakers descend on Raleigh on Monday, their plates could be quite full for the even-year short session.
From social issues to education to how to better get from point A to point B, legislators could have a lot of decisions to make.
"I think they will be very busy," said Mitch Kokai, spokesman for the John Locke Foundation, a Raleigh-based conservative policy think tank. "But that's not necessarily a sign that it won't be very short. There is a desire to avoid a long, drawn-out controversial fight."
