Improving Nebraska health care system important legacy for GloorState Sen. Mike Gloor describes his eight years in the Legislature as “interesting, extremely educational and, at times, entertaining because of the educational aspects of it.” “And it was far more time consuming than what I thought it would be,” he said. Gloor’s second term will end in January. State law limits senators to two consecutive four-year terms. Three candidates are seeking as the state senator from District 35, which covers most of Grand Island, with the primary election May 10 to reduce the field to two. Gloor earned his bachelor of arts from Hastings College in 1972, a master of science from the University of Utah in 1976 and a master of health administration from the University of Minnesota in 1987. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 to 1976 and retired as president of St. Francis Medical Center after overseeing the addition of the hospital tower.
