Nebraska trooper shares unusual tale of pulling over sports car made of wood
In 28 years with the Nebraska State Patrol, Trooper Bill Price said he's never encountered a car like the one he stopped Thursday afternoon. The car was completely made of wood. Yes, wood. Cedar to be exact. Price, who works out of the O’Neill, Nebraska, office, was on patrol just south of the Nebraska/South Dakota state line on Highway 281 when he saw a “weird-looking sports car” drive by. “I didn’t know it was wooden at the time,” he said. “It didn’t have a front plate so I turned around and stopped it. When I went up to it, I saw it was licensed in North Dakota. Then I realized ‘Hey, this is a wood car!’” Price said the car’s owner, whom he did not identify, built the custom, street legal automobile on the frame of a 1985 Pontiac Fiero several years ago. The owner moved to Sweden from Virginia and the car went to stay with his sister, who lives in North Dakota.
