Former IRS employee admits illegally receiving jobless benefits
A Cheektowaga woman has pleaded guilty to collecting $18,500 in unemployment benefits that she was not entitled to because she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service at the time.
Yvonne E. Borders, 43, who no longer works for the IRS, pleaded guilty to theft of government funds before U.S. Magistrate Judge H. Kenneth Schroeder Jr. The charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail and a $100,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth R. Moellering said Borders collected the benefits from January 2009 through December 2013.
Schroeder will sentence her at 10:30 a.m. July 27.
