EXETER — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz seemed impressed when a man in the audience inside the old Exeter Town Hall told him he was speaking in the same spot where Abraham Lincoln once addressed New Hampshire Republicans during a visit to Exeter in 1860. “Wow,” he said, looking down to admire the stage where he stood before a crowd of about 200 during a campaign stop here Wednesday morning. The political landscape has certainly changed since Lincoln arrived in Exeter to speak and visit his son — a student at Phillips Exeter Academy — after giving an anti-slavery speech at Copper Union in New York City.
