Kaysville man accused of failure to pay $200,000 in taxes faces federal chargesSALT LAKE CITY — A Kaysville businessman is facing federal charges of tax evasion after he allegedly avoided paying his personal taxes and payroll taxes for his employees, resulting in more than $200,000 in unpaid taxes. An indictment was handed down on Friday, April 29, by a federal grand jury, charging David Brian Bybee with two counts of tax evasion and three counts of failure to pay taxes, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release. Bybee, 55, is a certified public accountant and owned several business that he ran from his Kaysville home, according to the indictment. He allegedly evaded paying up to $153,569.41 in taxes for a large portion of his income between 2000 and 2009 by concealing details about his assets. He is also accused of deducting and collecting payroll taxes for his businesses, totaling at least $39,244.49. However, he did not report the payroll taxes, with the exception of one employment tax payment of $899.32 in April 2012, according to the news release.
