Ohio state agency seizing last large group of exotic wild animalsThe state seized the last large group of exotic animals in Ohio from a Massillon-area owner Wednesday. Employees of the Ohio Department of Agriculture arrived at Stump Hill Farm outside Massillon about 10 a.m. to seize five tigers, two cougars, two baboons and a chimpanzee. Owner Cynthia Huntsman lacked the permit required under Ohio's law banning ownership of unregistered exotic animals. The law took effect in 2012, but owners did not have to register animals and meet housing and care requirements until Jan. 1, 2014. After a brief flurry of phone calls between attorneys, the state employees began tranquilizing the animals for transportation to the state's exotic-animal containment facility near Reynoldsburg.
