Tuition increase approved for new Illinois State University studentsNORMAL — New in-state undergraduate students entering Illinois State University this fall will be paying 3 percent more in tuition and fees than those who started last year, following action Friday morning by the board of trustees. The board unanimously approved setting in-state undergraduate tuition at $370.25 per credit hour and fees at $81.84 per credit hour. ISU President Larry Dietz noted that 70 percent of students will not see an increase in tuition or fees. That's because the state's truth-in-tuition law locks in tuition rates for four years for each student when they enter ISU, and the university extends that guarantee to fees. Tuition also was increased for out-of-state and graduate students. And residence hall rates were increased by 1 percent.
