Queens charity fires director who was victim of coworker's acid attack after uncovering embezzlement scheme The Queens arts charity director diabolically attacked with acid after she raised the alarm over a $750,000 embezzlement scheme was fired Friday. A month after Alexandra Dyer, 60, sued Healing Arts Initiative, she and a financial officer who helped unearth the fraud, were axed, Dyer confirmed by phone to the Daily News. The financial officer, Frank Williams, told the New York Times they were fired for exposing the charity cooking the books. The nonprofit’s board said in a statement that Dyer and Williams were fired for withholding “critical financial and other information,” the Times reported.
