NEW BRITAIN — A student at Central Connecticut State University has died, University President Jack Miller reported Saturday. The cause of death has not been revealed.
"I deeply regret to inform you that on Saturday morning we learned of the death of a CCSU student," Miller wrote in a statement. "The student's parents and immediate friends were notified, and our counselors have met with them. Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the student's family and friends. Out of respect to the student's family, we are not releasing the student's name."
CCSU police declined to discuss the case Saturday..
Miller said counselors will be available Monday on a walk-in basis at Student Wellness Services, or by appointment at 860-832-1945.
"Because the death of one of our students is a terrible tragedy that affects us all, I want to say that especially at this stressful time of the academic year, it is all the more necessary to keep watch over each other and to support each other," Miller wrote. "Your compassion and understanding can make an important difference."
