Texas coach Charlie Strong more than doubled defensive line coach Brick Haley’s salary to keep him from making a lateral move to Texas A&M earlier this offseason. Haley’s new salary structure was outlined in the UT System Board of Regents agenda book posted online on Sunday. According to the terms of his new contract, Haley will receive a base salary of $495,000 as opposed to his previous salary of $235,000. That base salary could escalate to $515,000 during the 2017 season. A&M coach Kevin Sumlin first approached Haley in mid-February about coming to College Station. It was thought Haley was at least mildly interested because of his relationship with A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis. Both Haley and Chavis worked together at LSU.
