More school bonds failed than passed in Saturday night's Big Country elections, with only voters in Clyde, Highland and Munday school districts supporting bond requests. Voters in Clyde approved $7 million for a junior high addition and other renovations with a tally of 247 votes for and 130 against, while Sweetwater voters put down a request for $13 million in bonds with a vote of 383 in favor and 438 against. Cross Plains ISD voters defeated a $2.98 million bond request for an elementary school gym/tornado shelter, a new band hall, cafeteria expansion and other upgrades. That vote was 149 for, 180 against. Projects in Clyde's bond include remodeling existing space into a new computer lab, a library/media center, a new security vestibule, and front office and clinic. In addition an 11,000-square-foot addition will include a science lab, prep room and other classrooms.
