TRENTON — Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced Monday Gov. Chris Christie will head his transition team if the billionaire businessman clinches the race for the White House. The New Jersey governor would serve as chairman of Trump's transition team and oversee "an extensive team of professionals preparing to take over the White House," Trump's campaign said. Christie became an early supporter of Trump's campaign after he dropped his own bid for the 2016 GOP nomination following a poor showing in the New Hampshire primary. "Governor Christie is an extremely knowledgeable and loyal person with the tools and resources to put together an unparalleled transition team, one that will be prepared to take over the White House when we win in November," Trump, the billionaire businessman and former Atlantic City casino mogul, said in a statement. "I am grateful to Governor Christie for his contributions to this movement." Read more: www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2016/05/trump_taps_christie_for_key_role_if_elected_president.html
