A Democrat-backed bill that would require private employers to provide paid sick leave to their employees in New Jersey was pulled hours before a Senate vote Monday after some lawmakers raised questions about the legislation. “Some of our members have questions as it pertains to small businesses,” Sen. Loretta Weinberg, D-Teaneck, a sponsor of the bill, said at the end of Monday’s voting session. “So we’re going to have a further discussion.” Senate President Stephen Sweeney, a co-sponsor of the bill, said those discussions also are aimed at finding a bill that would be acceptable in the Assembly. Last year, the Senate approved a similar measure by a 22-17 vote but Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto did not post the bill for an Assembly vote.
