$7.5 million lawsuit filed against driver's doctor in seizure-related crash that killed Chesterfield manThe family of a Chesterfield County man killed when an elderly motorist suffering a seizure crashed into the victim’s home at nearly 120 mph has filed a $7.5 million lawsuit against the driver’s physician for allegedly allowing his patient to continue driving despite earlier blackouts. The suit filed by the brother of William “Bill” Hillsman, who was killed in the crash, alleges that David Limbrick’s primary care physician released Limbrick to drive after knowing the patient had suffered numerous earlier seizures and had been advised by other doctors and medical staff not to operate a vehicle. Limbrick’s physician, Dr. G. Joseph Mehfoud, “directly contradicted the advice and instructions of physicians and staff who had seen Limbrick after these (earlier) events and had instructed Limbrick not to drive,” the suits says. As a result, Limbrick continued to drive and he blacked out during a seizure on Feb. 26, 2015, crashing into the side of Hillsman’s home in the 1700 block of Greenfield Drive at 119 mph, the suit says.
