Road closures, altered bus routes planned for Sanders rally in MissoulaTraffic and pedestrian flow in downtown Missoula will change for several hours Wednesday to welcome presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders to Caras Park. The city announced Tuesday a number of road, sidewalk, trail and parking closures and restrictions and urged attendees driving to the event to use the two parking garages downtown. Mountain Line recommended taking the bus, walking or biking to the Sanders rally and outlined altered bus routes in the area. The Missoula Police Department is assisting the U.S. Secret Service in security for the Sanders rally, which starts at 10 a.m. It will open to the public at 9:30 a.m. Sanders is expected to speak at about 12:30 p.m. The perimeter of the park will be fenced off, with entrance restricted to the west side at the restrooms. Starting at 7 a.m. the sidewalk on the west side of Higgins Avenue Bridge will be off limits, while one southbound traffic lane across the bridge will be closed at 11 a.m. Traffic can still drive on the left southbound lane after that.
