Even with a record 3.2 million registered Kentucky voters, Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes announced Wednesday she expects about 20 percent voter turnout for the May 17 primary next Tuesday. Based on the number of absentee ballots, Grimes said she expects about one in five Kentuckians to come to the polls next Tuesday. “Typically, you do see a higher turnout in presidential election years,” Grimes said. “Unfortunately, I do believe the Republican caucus held in March will play a negative role in anticipated turnout here in Kentucky.
