A federal court jury convicted a Lee’s Summit man Friday of crimes connected to a $3.7 million mortgage fraud scheme. Federal prosecutors in Kansas City said that 67-year-old Albert William Roberts III, a retired Kansas City schoolteacher, was convicted of four counts of wire fraud. Roberts used false information or omitted facts to obtain mortgage loans for properties in Lee’s Summit, Peculiar and Greenwood, prosecutors said. He received about $800,000 in kickbacks as part of the scheme, prosecutors said. A sentencing date has not been set. www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article77444577.html
