School security questioned after Greenville high school shootingGREENVILLE, SC -- Students sat at tables inside the cafeteria Friday morning just like they do every morning at Southside High School in Greenville. When students arrive early, they gather either in the cafeteria or the media center, where teachers are assigned to keep watch. Some students began to head to their first period class; others were just arriving, dropped off in the car line and entering the school. School principal Carlos Brooks stood watch as he does every morning, talking to students as they enter the school. It’s a way to gauge any threats, said Burke Royster, Greenville County Schools superintendent. Students use just one entrance in the morning and each student must have their identification card, school district officials said.
