NEWTOWN — As dusk fell Thursday, a sea of orange slowly swept up Main Street. Working their way past the massive flag pole where the street intersects with Church Hill Road, hundreds of people, all wearing some shade of orange, walked with purpose: putting a spotlight on gun violence and its lethal toll. "We turned Newtown orange," said Abbey Clements, a former Sandy Hook Elementary School teacher, to cheers from a crowd that had gathered for a rally outside Edmond Town Hall. Thursday's rally was part of National Gun Violence Awareness Day. The orange, speakers said, was chosen by the creators because hunters often wear it in the woods to avoid being shot at.
