Massachusetts Democrats to hold annual convention in Lowell SaturdayLOWELL ‒— More than 2,000 Massachusetts Democratic leaders, elected officials and others are expected to gather in Lowell Saturday for the state party's 2016 convention. Similar to last year, Massachusetts Democrats will not vote on candidates during the annual event, which is set to begin around 9 a.m. at the Tsongas Center. Instead, delegates and party leaders will focus on issues and actions important to Democrats, with breakout sessions planned on climate change and income inequality. With the 2016 presidential election just months away, Massachusetts Democratic Party Executive Director Matt Fenlon said he also expects the convention to underscore the importance of electing a Democrat to succeed outgoing President Barack Obama.
