Indiana archivists are rejoicing after the recent digital release of 17 million Indiana birth, death and marriage records. The release is the result of a collaboration between the Indiana Archives and Records Administration, the Indiana State Department of Health and Ancestry.com, an online genealogy database. “As we honor Indiana’s past and celebrate its future in our Bicentennial year, we’re excited to release the largest amount of digitized government content to the public in state history,” Gov. Mike Pence said in a statement. “This initiative serves not only present-day Hoosiers by improving accessibility to records, but also future Hoosiers as they reflect on our state’s history in the years to come.” Read more: www.courierpress.com/news/local/huge-collection-of-indiana-public-records-now-digitized--343fa6b0-e285-777a-e053-0100007f9181-381856701.html
