Iowa Poll: Patty Judge leads way in Democratic Senate primary
Patty Judge is the best-known and most popular candidate in Iowa’s Democratic U.S. Senate primary Tuesday — and also the most likely to win, the latest Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll shows.
But that doesn’t mean Democratic primary voters like — or are even aware of — her record on key issues.
Judge, the former lieutenant governor and Iowa secretary of agriculture, leads the four-way primary race with support from 42 percent of likely Democratic voters.That’s 17 percentage points ahead of her leading rival, state Sen. Rob Hogg, who is the top choice for 25 percent of respondents.
Judge, Hogg and two other Democrats are vying to challenge six-term incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley in November.
