It’s no secret that Grand Canyon has innumerable amazing views. Now it is being recognized for the scenery above. Grand Canyon National Park has been named a provisional International Dark-Sky Park by the International Dark-Sky Association. The provisional status gives park officials three years to retrofit two-thirds of the lights to meet strict IDA standards. Thousands of lights along the North and South rims, as well as within the Canyon, must be altered to meet guidelines. Plans are to become fully compliant by 2019, the 100th anniversary of Grand Canyon National Park.
