HARRISBURG - More than 400 nursing home administrators and staff from across the state gathered Wednesday in the Capitol to press lawmakers to increase the state's Medicaid funding. And Carmella Yesavage was among them. The 81-year-old has called the ManorCare Health Services-Pottsville home for four years. “It's time that we receive proper funding,” said Yesavage, reading from a prepared statement in the Rotunda. “Our seniors deserve it. It's not fair. Fund quality care.” Pennsylvania's 700 nursing homes care for about 81,000 residents every day. The Pennsylvania Health Care Association, which organized the rally, is looking for legislators to increase state Medicaid spending in the 2016-17 budget by 3.5 percent, or $63 million.
