Gov. Cuomo pushes regulations on Super PACs to eliminate coordination with campaignsGov. Cuomo is pushing to crack down on Super PACs that have been able to raise and spend unlimited amounts of campaign cash on New York races. Cuomo is looking to rein in their efforts by trying to ensure there is no coordination between the independent committees and the campaigns they support. Under the Supreme Court's controversial 2010 Citizens United decision, so-called independent expenditure committees can raise and spend unlimited sums on behalf of candidates as long as there is no actual coordination between the committees and the campaigns. Independent expenditure committees have cropped up more frequently in New York in recent years and played major roles in the battle for the state Senate.
