Hispanic activists hope to make Trump unwelcome on swing through TexasDonald Trump will be in Texas on Thursday and Friday, raising money at fundraisers in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston and holding rallies in Dallas and Houston, though venues had not been announced Monday. What is certain is that wherever the presumptive Republican nominee appears in Texas, Democratic Hispanic activists intend to make Trump feel unwelcome and donors uncertain about the costs of consorting with a candidate so loathed in their community. “He’s not welcome in the state of Texas,” said Carlos Quintanilla, leader of the group Accion American, who plans to organize protesters numbering in the thousands outside any place Trump appears Thursday. Quintanilla has also launched a boycott of the Dallas Mexican restaurant chains Mi Cocina and Taco Diner. Their co-owner, Ray Washburne, is vice chairman of the Trump Victory Committee, a joint venture of the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee, for which Washburne is a former national finance chairman. “Basically, he makes his money off the hard work of Mexican workers, and he’s supporting a man who detests Mexicans and despises immigrants,” Quintanilla said.
