Texas Young Democrats set to unite to keep 'demagogue' out of White HouseThere's no question Bernie Sanders won big among the youngest voters in Texas' Democratic primary in March. But party leaders are now asking themselves how they can get those 18- to 29-year-olds to get behind Hillary Clinton. Chelsea Roe, 31, of Dallas, communications director for Texas Young Democrats and a Clinton supporter, is hoping this week's Texas Democratic Party convention will be the place to ask voters "who have been Bernie supporters to focus their energy to unite behind the same candidate." In this spring's primary, Sanders claimed 64 percent of the votes from 18- to 29-year-olds, while Clinton got 34 percent, according to exit polls from the March 1 Texas contest. "A lot of messaging in the primary spoke specifically to young people and that is what drove a lot of the Bernie supporters to be so vocal," Roe said.
