'I apologize to Nebraska': Prisons chief says procedural failures led to inmates' escapeLINCOLN — Timothy Clausen and Armon Dixon were not even supposed to be in the laundry area of the Lincoln Correctional Center on Friday morning. But Nebraska’s top prison official said Monday that multiple agency missteps allowed the two dangerous inmates to stow away on a laundry truck and escape from the maximum security prison. Lincoln Correctional Center Warden Mario Peart has been reassigned to the Corrections Department’s central office pending completion of an investigation into the missteps. Clausen, 52, remained at large Monday, and Dixon, 37, was back in prison as more details emerged about their escape.
