Oregon standoff defendant Geoffrey Stanek pleads guilty to federal conspiracy chargeOregon standoff defendant Geoffrey A. Stanek pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiring to impede federal officers at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, becoming the third person indicted on the charge to admit to the crime. The government will recommend that the 26-year-old face six months of home detention for his first felony conviction when sentenced Oct. 7. Prosecutors will dismiss the second charge he faced, possession of a firearm in a federal facility, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Craig Gabriel. Stanek told federal agents after his Feb. 11 arrest in Forest Grove that he was a member of the Oregon Three Percenters militia and learned about the refuge takeover from Facebook, according to the prosecutor.
