Cedar Creek fire grows to 2,500 acres, shuts down US 60 near Show LowSHOW LOW, Ariz. - A new brush fire has sparked in northern Arizona Wednesday, forcing the closure of US 60 and sending ash out over the Show Low area. The Bureau of Indian Affairs said the Cedar Creek Fire was last estimated at around 2,500 acres, but strong winds in the area have likely caused it to grow. As of 4:20 p.m. the fire was approximately 1.5 miles from the trigger point. Officials said both directions of US 60 have been shut down from mile post 318 to 337. Pre-evacuation notices were issued for residents of Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, Fort Apache, Hon Dah and McNary. www.yourwestvalley.com/valleyandstate/article_b50f05ba-3347-11e6-a140-8f31048185c4.htmlKeeping my fingers crossed that there are no injuries, minimal structural damage and that the fire is contained quickly.
