Hearne trustee banned from district property after incident with school administrators
Hearne trustee Tina Rocha has been banned from district property except to attend school board meetings on the elementary campus after she was involved in a verbal altercation with school administrators.
Rocha's fellow school board members approved the action Monday.
The incident occurred the afternoon of June 3 after Rocha confronted Hearne High School administrators about how they handled her daughter's personal academic information.
On June 3, Hearne Superintendent Raul Nuques issued a letter of apology to the parents of five students -- including Rocha's daughter -- who fell under the induction criteria for the National Honor Society during the 2013-14 school year. Nuques said in the letter the students were not accepted into the organization because of a change in academic standards.
