DA: Former Cecil police chief guilty of using money from account at casinos A jury on Thursday found a former Cecil police chief guilty of charges that he used money from a federally funded account at area casinos, according to Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone. Prosecutors charged John Pushak, 67, with theft and misapplication of entrusted property. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 29. Pushak resigned in 2013 after nearly 40 years with the department amid an investigation into more than $10,000 he withdrew from a special police account for drug stings. Some money was withdrawn at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino in North Strabane and at The Rivers Casino on the North Shore, according to court records. Township officials said Pushak repaid the money.
