Lancaster man sentenced to 18 months for fraudulently obtaining over $100,000 in unemployment benefitsA Lancaster man was sentenced to 18 months in prison Wednesday for fraudulently obtaining over $100,000 in unemployment benefits from 2008 to 2012, according to the The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Angel Luis Carrasco-Rivera, 54, pleaded guilty on charges of criminal information with mail fraud as part of a plea agreement in February. Carrasco-Rivera was employed full time when he applied for and received $102,000 in unemployment benefits, according to the United States Attorney's office. As part of his sentencing, Chief United States District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner in Harrisburg ordered Carrasco-Rivera to pay $89,500 in restitution to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry. Assistant U.S. Attorney James T. Clancy prosecuted the case.
